I spoke with my Rep. for St. Clair Co. last week. He is very supportive of legislation for the PACT. He said that he believes that all contracts should be honored. I told him that I oppose HB747 because of the limitation to only PACT contracts purchased prior to Dec. 31, 1995. I expressed my concern that there was not enough time left in the current session to pass a bill through the House and Senate. He asked when my student would begin college (fall 2009) and said that I shouldn't be concerned because there is funding in the PACT to cover tuition expenses for the next year if this is not addressed in this session. I told him that we all want this resolved sooner rather than later.
