Patti Lambert Warning to Alabama and Auburn Universities. Do not blame my babies or the Pact Children because you have raised tuition across the board an average of 110% in 10 years...those new pretty buildings are going to look pretty sad EMPTY because the average household in Alabama cannot afford your tuition and fees.. or wil...l you educate another states child on the backs of Alabama Tax Payers.. Random thoughts.....Is it legal or moral for the Pact Board to use our BABIES MONEY to defend themselves in COURT...???? If we were ever made to go to court ...I will NOT forget to Take Todays Decatur Daily... Millions spent by Al. and Au. for everything else ..  but not one penny for ALABAMA"S Children. Not one idea , no plan ,no compromise , no attempt to find a possible solution.. Please search your heart. and please be willing to try to find a solution...a bandaid will not do...No one should have to beg anyone to do the Right thing..These were contracts entered into with Good Faith.. Imagine what these children will take from this mess. That is just ok and we are sorry that your family sacrificed to be able to provide you an education....then some of  your ELECTED OFFICALS turned their backs on YOU--- Alabama's Children. Al and Au are happy to take your money but could care less about YOU...After all it seems  and I have been told that " it is all about the money"....I hope that those who vote against us- for them that they are running unopposed ...we will make a difference in the voting booth.. Families that pre-pay tuition for their loved ones do not miss the chance to VOTE.....If colleges can accept (it is their right) to accept 50 mile radius students at" in state fees  "giving up app. 32 M in tuition (whose families do not pay taxes in Alabama)...  ...have all kinds of tuition waivers, ect....All that is being asked... Do the right thing.. We need State House votes for Pact Bills with 2.5 floating cap to educate all contracts.. we need this to be passed in this session....

Making plans to have our first meeting. Looking for contract holders and supporters who are willing to work towards a positive solution. We need to protect the educations of our children ---that we paid for and the State of Alabama promised.... Please let Patti and Rebecca know that you are willing to help and lend your talents.....Thanks...

Donna has been one of our inspirations!!! She has been a worker since day one!!! Always dependable--- always there-- ready to do anything to help Pact.. She held today the first meeting for Pact Contract  Holders in Madison County!!!!. We had over 100 attend- willing to give-up a Saturday to meet and find out what they can do to help support their children- and make sure the contract they have with the State of Alabama will never be broken or compromised!!!! Job well done!!!!!!

I would like to say that Bradley  Byrne was very helpful  in trying to  meet with Pact Holders at either our before the meeting-meeting or after meeting-meeting... Because he had prior engagements he suggested to meet at 12:30 at the Pact Meeting.. We worked thru e-mail with less than 24 hour notice.. He is at the top of my list of Pact Supporters along with Kay Ivey and Lt.Governor Jim Folsom who both have been very up front and have delivered when asked.. We are lucky  to have supporters in high places .

I do not think I could have said it better....!!!! In view of what all has happened-- Perhaps I will read that again -incase the fine print has changed, been  altered....ect.. thanks

To All Constituents & Friends in Alabama House District 48,

I take this opportunity to thank you for the opportunity to serve you in the
Alabama House of Representatives.  The current session (I write this while we
are awaiting Senate messages) has been particularly challenging to everyone.
While all of you may not have always agreed with my positions, I hope that you
will agree that I have served you with honor and diligence.

I recently updated my District 48 website.  I have added blogs related to the
PACT Plan and the Jefferson County Occupation Tax.  I hope that you will have an
opportunity to view the website and blogs located at:  www.gregcanfield.com .  I
plan to update the blog section after the conclusion of this session with more
about this session and the coming session.

I thank you for your time,

Greg Canfield

I have NEVER been told that I have ever taken the EASY way out of a situation...It would be way too easy to bail out ---That way we as pact holders will destroy our own  program... And the legislators will be able to say... "We tried to help ---no one would give us a chance to FIX IT!!!!"  I say NO NO NO... We will make them deliver to us exactly what was promised....-and paid for..--I really feel for all the parents and students who are about to do to that next wonderful level of education-- the hard work for alll- the planning, study hours, choosing your new school, ect and to have it all in such a crisis that was not deserved.....This should be a time of joy ....not being upset that the funds will not be available..and worse you have to fight and scream for the $$$ already saved and lovingly spent to fullfil a college dream...  I am not sure HOW but I know that we WILL come out of this if we do not panic and destroy ourselves...March we will   We can all wear Green shirts of any kind to represent $$$ . This has to be big or it will be wasted.. We need all the college students in Montgomery and all who can come from anywhere else...We must get the media involved.. Newspapers, radio and TV. abc33/40 has been with us all the way and will be there for us... Call everyone... We will furnish times, meeting place, ect on a post on Monday... be READY   !!!!

hb747  NO NO NO...When all this nightmare started---we agreed that all contracts would be honored..Nothing will change my mind. We are in this fight--- that we did not ask for--to protect all the Pacts. It is time to step-up and do the honorable thing.. NO short-cuts  Deliver as promised and guaranteed!!!

Understand  something new may be coming out tomorrow... Be looking for new bill??? Talked to Kay Ivey this morning. I wanted to get some idea of the $ impact on  Alabama and Auburn if a compromise  on  a 3 year tuition freeze was not met to enable 581 to pass. I felt that they would have as strong a need to work this out as we do.I felt it was almost a duty to Alabama's youth.. She has encouraged US to try to not side-step the real issues and not to get confused with set-backs (like Alabama's call to action to fight 581)  She has encouraged us to continue to call on our legislators.. I hope that we can  daily fill their message boxes...All the parents, grands, students, friends--EVERYONE who has any connection to anyone who has purchased their children's PRE-PAID education. They need to be reminded to do their DUTY for our CHILDREN"S FUTURE....Please let your voices be heard!!!

The Facebook Group has been asked to Rally together to contact Legislators and ask that they join in with us to communicate here on the FORUM and on the FACEBOOK group - we need our representation communicating what is happening with this issue in Montgomery - what they really think of the currently proposed legislation....and anything else they want to discuss!

Be sure to include contact with those we know are working for us as stated in the FORUM topic - and those proposing and backing the proposed bills!

Thanks!

Lots of news... hopeful "something "we will ALL be able to get behind and really cheer about!! Just curious... anyone know where the extra 1,ooo pacts came from... Now we have 49,000 to  SAVE   instead of the reported 48,000.  Gives us more #'s and more votes.  Keep Working!!!!

Let's discuss this bill only here- so we can keep a good trail of conversation.

Excited to get something through - but leary of backing something that may not be the best solution- and not sure on the repayment requirement.
