Yes Yes Yes-Thank you to Goveror Riley and to Lt. Gov. Folsom in an interview after the State of the State that the Legislature needs to fix the PACT so it can honor it's obligation in full.

I wrote to the editor of the Montgomery Adveriser today-they have been good about posting thins I write to the editor. I have pasted it below. Please write "letters to the editors" of your newspapers.

If you have a PACT college contract for your child or grandchild you need to be aware that to ensure that the legislature infuses money from somewhere into the program to meet it's guaranteed obligations they must hear from you. Please join the group Save Alabama PACT and get involved as a united voice of contract holders to contact our legislators. We need every PACT contract holder to become involved. Please see the web site www.savealabamapact.com to join the group and get more information. Please do not sit back and think someone else will take care of this or that this is not a real problem. Exercise the democratic process and get involved around the state.

I agree with Kitty Collier. Knee jerk reactions are not usualy helpful but often times counter-poductive. Also do not forget that this is the first year out of 19 + years that he stock market investments have lost money. THERE IS NO REASON TO DISSOLVE PACT NOW AND NO REASON TUITION SHOULD NOT BE PAID THIS FALL AND SPRING UNTIL LEGISLAtiON IS PASSED. This is not quite the dire emergencies like the flood waters in Montgomery last week where something must be done very quickly. Don't misundestand me-somethig must be done to save PACT or drastic measures will need to be taken but there is time to make sure the best solution is found.  The solution is there-it needs to be found

I was interviewed by telephone today by The Montgomery Advertiser about how the PACT problem has impacted my family. I had written an editorial a few weeks ago in the Advertiser and they contacted me. Apparently this coming Sunday The Montgomery Advertiser is running a feature story on the PACT problem. They wanted a picture of me so I suggested they take my children (ONE currently a sophmore in college using PACT and my sophmore in High School who I hope will be able to use his PACT in 3 years). We will not be the ony family interviewed so I hope this article will be good publicity for how families (PACT contract holders) are dealing with the news (or lack of it) about how and if PACT will be fixed.

I mentioned the SAVE ALABAMA PACT website and all the meetings, letters and phone calls to legislatures and some of the responses I have gotten.
I hope this helps-I figure publicity can't hurt.

Re: Alabama PACT Program

I sent him an e-mail last Friday and he immediately replied with the above message. I did not recopy the whole e-mail I sent to him here-but I asked him to support any legislation supporting PACT

Rep. Jay Love from Montgomery answered my e-mail Fridayand I called Sen. Larry Dixon from Montgomery Friday. They are both supporters of PACT and assured me they would try to persuade fellow legislatures to pass funding legislation for PACT.
