No Support:
Senator Dixon wants SAP to know that he has thoroughly researched this issue.  He invested in PACT for his two daughters and was quite pleased with the results so he bought his granddaughter a PACT contract as well.  Senator Dixon WILL NOT SUPPORT A TUITION CAP as he believes that will only cause a higher tuition increase for all non-PACT holders.

Dr. Witt's message is all over our kids UA email and local UA news television and newspaper. It's just a shame that it sounds like such a wonderful cause "Protecting Students"--what a joke. Try Protecting Money and Power for themselves. The public wants to do the right thing and protecting students sure does sound l...ike a good cause to those who are familiar with the PACT facts. Many will be confused between "Save Alabama PACT" and "Protect Students".

CALL TO ACTION! Please don't give up and let them win. Let's join together in a mighty force like never before and champion for our children. 44,000 contract families could make a monumental impact on our legislators if we only banned together. Please don't rely on our SAP leaders to be our voices. Speak for yourself. Speak for our children who cannot speak for themselves. Today is the day. The time is drawing to a close. Decisions are being made that will impact your children's future. Make your voice heard.

Please call, visit, write, email our legislators:  THIS IS THE CRITICAL TIME~
We need legislator support for Greg Wren's HB 122, 123 and 124.  We need a co-sponsor in the Senate for these bills.  We need this to go to the floor for a vote.  This would allow us a guarantee that the State would take ownership of this contact and honor it fully.  Passing this would let us be able to sleep at night.

As owners, we need no more individual lawsuits that will drain from our funds and no more withdrawal of contracts out of fear....and lots of prayers!  There is power in numbers--let our voices be heard!

This is a call to Lt. Jim Folsom!  Save Alabama PACT owners need to hear from you.  Do you support saving the PACT as originally contracted or do you support your vote by proxy to change the terms of the contract to a reduced rate?  We need you to speak for yourself and not through proxy.  Now is your time to step-up and show us that you are a man of your word.

Thank you to Patti, Huck, and Rebecca and all of the other PACT owners who rallied together in Montgomery today to help save our PACT contracts.  A special thank you to our SAP Leaders who give of their personal time, money and determination to make sure that all of our children get the education they deserve and we paid for.  Not everyone can go to Montgomery but everyone can make a call, write a letter, contact a legislator.  Please do.  Do not place your child's future in the hands of a few SAP leaders--take action.  Now is the time.  This is a critical decision making time in Montgomery and we need to let them hear our voices--all 45,000 of them.  They've heard from our 100 voices today....now is your turn.  If you need assistance in knowing what to do, any of us will be glad to help.  Just ask.  Please don't just do nothing.  CALL TO ACTION!  God Bless.  Ruth

Quote from Gov. Riley during his State of the State Address in Montgomery on January 12, 2010:

"And one more thing about promises: I believe this state made a commitment to families who enrolled in our pre-paid tuition program. Let’s work together during this session to make sure we keep our promise to them."

Now, legislators, please step up and act.  We are counting on you.

Join the Tuscaloosa caravan to Montgomery at 7:15 am, Tues. Jan 12th at Outback Steakhouse!  Contact me at ruthgray@savealabamapact.com for more info.

I am profoundly disappointed by the actions taken by the PACT Board today without representation of our Save Alabama PACT group.  I encourage all owners to stay steady, don't panic, and don't jump ship.  Stay the course and continue to support our efforts to secure the entire provisions of our contract.  Plan to meet on Jan. 12, 2010 at 9 am on the Capitol steps in Montgomery to show our solidarity to the legislators.

Wow!  We had an incredible meeting last night in Tuscaloosa.  We had 120 people in attendance with 8 elected officials/politicians.  There were 3 television stations and a newspaper there to provide coverage.

Thanks to all those who were able to attend--especially Patti Lambert and Rebecca Thrasher who have a long distance to commute.

Please be aware that the following politicians and elected officials were in attendance and are supportive of saving our PACT:

Jeremy Sherer (candidate for State Treasurer)
Rep. Chris England
Rep. Allen Harper
Rep. Gerald Allen
Senator Phil Poole
George Wallace, Jr. (candidate for State Treasurer)
Charles Grimsley (candidate for State Treasurer)
Rep. Robert Bentley

Also, please be aware that there were several elected officials invited who never responded or declined:  Congressman Artur Davis, Sen Bobby Singleton, and Rep Ken Guin.

We each play a vital role in saving our PACT.  Write letters, emails, make phone calls, visits, attend meeting....those are just a few things we can do.  Also, we really need tremendous assistance locating the other 1,900 in Tusc and West Alabama who own PACTs.  We need them to be involved and show their support.  Please help spread the word to find these owners.  Please direct them to me at ruthgray@savealabamapact.com

Thanks!  Ruth

I have been watching this quite a bit and was wondering what are the proposals by the Save Alabama PACT group on where the state should get the money to pay for the debt in the PACT program. Not a trick question and there may not be a proposal I was just wondering. I am looking around at different ideas on how we can come up with the money without cutting $600 million out of education. I am open to any and all ideas Ruth! Thanks again for the invite and I look forward to talking with you some more about this in the future.
