Topic: Cullman area group

I would like some suggestions on forming a group for Cullman County.  I have two contracts and know at least two other families who have contracts.  My representative is Jeremy Oden and Senator Zeb Little.  I would like to make coordinated contacts with the other families to speak with one voice as suggested at the Homewood meeting.  Should I run an ad in the local paper for other members to identify themselves and join in first or should I move forward with contacts?

Re: Cullman area group

When we started a group in Montgomery, the first thing I did was send a message to everyone on my personal e-mail contact list.  I explained that we were trying to compile a list of PACT contract holders in the Montgomery area, that the Treasurer's office would not release a list to us, and also asked them to forward to everyone on their contact list.  I had a good response to that e-mail and compiled the info into an excel spreadsheet.  When I want to contact Montgomery area contract holders, I copy the e-mail addresses in the BCC (to keep the contact information confidential) and then send out an e-mail.  I also have found that folks will read an e-mail from me quicker than they will look at posts on this forum, so I often send out an e-mail re-emphasizing something in the forum.

Running an ad in your local paper would be effective, too, but it will cost more than e-mail circulation.

We also held a meeting of Montgomery area folks which also brought in new members - publicized the meeting on this forum and facebook.  If you will e-mail me at kittycollier@savealabamapact.com, I will send you a copy of the packet that we used at our meeting - you could revise to fit the needs of your group.  Good luck.

Re: Cullman area group

Letters to the editor stating your personnal concern with the PACT issues, and the efforts of Save Alabama PACT -- and website info-- have been really effective.

Re: Cullman area group

Posters and flyers are good.  Put them up in restaurants, supermarkets, etc., anywhere you can permission.  Put your contact info on them.
We in Madison County have made business cards with the pertinent info and passed them out.  Good luck!

Re: Cullman area group

Mark, we are having a B'ham Area meeting on Oct. 26th in Gardendale. You and some of your committee members might like to attend so that you can get a feel for the structure of a meeting and how the meeting proceeds. After the Oct. meeting is over, I will be gald to help you any way I can with info on structuring your meeting.

Re: Cullman area group

Thank you, I will attend and invite others.  Mark.
